Regular filter replacement is essential to ensure your Aquila whole-home filtration system continues to perform as intended. Over time, filter cartridges capture sediment, chlorine and other impurities from mains water, which gradually reduces their effectiveness. Replacing filters at recommended intervals helps maintain water flow, filtration performance and long-term system reliability.
Aquila systems are designed around standard 20” jumbo cartridges, making filter replacement straightforward.
Recommended Replacement Schedule
Replacement intervals vary depending on water quality, household size and overall water usage. As a general guide for mains water supplies:
Sediment filters: Replace every 6–12 months
Carbon filters: Replace every 12 months
Scale cartridges: Check annually and refill or replace as required
Homes with higher sediment levels or heavier water usage may require more frequent sediment filter replacement.
Understanding Each Filter Stage
Sediment Filters
Sediment cartridges remove dirt, rust, sand and silt from incoming water. As these particles accumulate, water flow can be restricted. Timely replacement helps protect downstream filters, plumbing and household appliances while maintaining consistent flow.
Carbon Filters
Carbon cartridges reduce chlorine, organic compounds and taste and odour from mains water. Once the carbon media is exhausted, chlorine reduction performance declines even if water appears clear. Annual replacement helps ensure consistent filtration performance across the home.
Scale Cartridges
Scale cartridges use food-grade scale-inhibition media to help reduce mineral build-up in plumbing and appliances, particularly in hard water areas. These cartridges do not remove existing scale but help reduce new scale formation. Media levels should be checked annually and topped up or replaced as required.

Aquila whole-home systems are designed for straightforward servicing using standard jumbo cartridges. Filter replacement can typically be carried out by a licensed plumber or a suitably experienced person, depending on installation setup. Systems include pressure relief features to assist with safe cartridge changes.

To make ongoing maintenance simple and more cost-effective, Aquila offers a Filter Replacement Program that supplies the correct replacement filters on an annual basis.
By joining the program, customers receive a 12-month supply of genuine Aquila replacement cartridges at a reduced cost, equating to 20% off standard filter pricing. This helps ensure filters are replaced on time while reducing long-term maintenance costs.

Filters are provided at 20% less than standard retail pricing

Collection or Delivery Options
Customers can choose how they receive their replacement filters:
Local Store Collection
Filters can be collected from a participating The Sink Warehouse store at no additional cost.
Home Delivery
Filters can be shipped directly to your nominated address.
Shipping costs are calculated separately and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
Important Notes
Filters should not be used on microbiologically unsafe water without appropriate disinfection
Replacement intervals are a guide only and may vary depending on water quality and usage
Subscription pricing applies to genuine Aquila replacement cartridges only
Installation and servicing are not included in the replacement program
